Default Digital vernier calipers....

...talk ta me! I've seen them as little as £10 ranging up to £50+. They won't be used everyday but don't wanna buy some cheap tat. So engineers, what do you think of these?

I find the digital verniers to be a bit awkward tbh

Being used to a normal type I find the digital verniers can vary by upto 0.3mm depending on how hard you push the jaws together and it always makes me doubt myself/

If you're not working to tolerances of around 0.2 then I'd stick with a decent set of manual verniers. Mitutoyo are a reasonably priced make

The problem with those two verniers is that the wheel mech can play up, even in the short term.
I use my normal type everyday and you soon get a good feel for the clamping of the jaws.
If i doubt myself i calibrate mine againt a 1" slip gauge or a 2" slip just to get the "feel" about right.
What i would say IF you can find a pair with a valid calibration cert then they could be a decent pair.

The Laser one on ebay is utter shite. The maintenance Engineer at work has one and it gives a different reading every time on the same thing. I use Mitutoyo ones at home and at work, can't fault them and reasonable price too.
