Default Aluminium trolley jack

Anyone know a good one?

Snap on man offering blue point 2 ton one but it's £280! Being blue point it's probably the same as a £100 sealey one so that's not an option unless anyone knows different (can't find the info)

Had a look on ebay and the likes but they mostly seem cheap chinese things with different names.

There is a 3 ton one which has appeared on there, but it's some random name.

I don't want it to fall to bits as it'll get used a lot every day.

Then spend the money, and have the lifetime warranty.

Who does a lifetime warranty one, or do I have to guess?

No mate, 1 year warranty on the blue point one. Only things they seem to warrant for life are hand tools. Even the bloody expensive battery impact guns we have had 1 year warranty!

i spoke to my snap on dealer about these, when i said i had concerns about the durability he assured me that only one had been returned due to the frame bending. this was due to jacking car up wrong and the whole lot went over twisting the jack which was replaced under warranty as well.

if its for home use the clarke version that machine mart sell is decent for the cash, just get a bottle of loctite and before use remove all the fixings and loctite them all in place, they have a habit of coming loose

Not for home use, it's for work. They get a lot of use, I work mobile and it'd be nice to lift an alloy one into the back of my transit 3,4,5 times a day rather than the steel ones.

I've been through a few 3 ton steel ones, they tend to die after a few months.

I just downloaded the snap on tool catalogue app and had a look at the blue point one, it looks quiet nice actually and it's 3 ton which most alloy ones aren't. The snap on guy said it was 2 or 2 1/2 ton iirc.

Just found the exact same jack on ebay, not much cheaper without the blue point sticker and blue finish though.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-TON-ALUM...#ht_2760wt_689

Knew I'd be able to find one the same. Makes me laugh how much extra people are willing to pay because it's blue point by snap on. All the blue point stuff is just cheap stuff which is ok in it's own right but fook paying a premium for some of it. I just checked the snap on price for that and it's $575 so he must have been talking aout the 1 1/2 ton one or it was plis vat, so £340! I was looking at the blue point bits on ebay earlier and saw the 3 pack of plastic hose clamps for £25, about a fivers worth. Also, they have digital tyre pressure gauges rebranded at £30, they are a fiver!

more to the point, what are you doing to a 3 tonne jack for it to only last a few months, we get a few years out of them in a busy tyre bay

I have a 3-tonne low-lft jack from CostCo. It cost about £70 but is steel, not alloy. Thing is, it isn't any heavier than the alloy ones I have seen.
