Default Powder coating

Hi guys I've just went and bought powder coating equipment including powder coater, oven, powder etc as iam wanting to give this ago but I've never done it before just watched a couple of videos on YouTube. Has anyone else done this before or does this at work for instance. Iam looking for any tips or help to do this. Iam just needing a sandblaster now incase there's things that need blasting.

Getting the parts properly clean first is definately the key from what I have seen, like painting its all in the prep.

On e issue that I am aware of with this process is that wheels for instance dont need to get too warm as they WILL crack.I know of two separate people whohave had theres done and both didnt last long before cracking. I can tell you that the company in question paid one chap out all though are still continuing to offer the service.Just becareful

Have you got an oven etc at home as well as doing at your work? They look good like. What do you use to mask bits off like on the turbo housing or to put in holes etc I thought foil for squashing in ends etc but wasn't sure

Tried powder coating a wheel the other day not sure what or if I did anything wrong. I got my oven unto temp (180 deg) set a wheel up, earthed it, dropped my pressure down tp 25/30 psi and proceeded to powder coat. pressing my pedal whilst spraying/dusting the powder on seemed to look even and ok, so I thought.. When I put the wheel in the oven the temp dropped to 165 or summit quite quick so left it in for 15 mins instead of 10 don't know if i did rite or what. On removing the wheel there's a couple of runs (which I didn't think would happen) and quite a few dry bits which looks like not enough powder was on. Any advice kindly accepted. Thanks

needs to be metel temp not even temp would recommend wheels to be left heating up for a good 30 mins at oven temp, cooking the powder off is 10 to 20 mins depending on powder should state coocking off time on packageing. dont try to put loads of powder on cos it dosent make the finish any different, some powders are base coat and need laquer as a top coat some are a high gloss one coat finish
if you need any help giz a shout
few pics of some work ive done
