Default New tool station/kit/sets what one??

I am thinking about buying a full set of new tools, including roller cabinets etc.

What one do you think i should go for, saw the draper pro for 750 ish then teng for 2500 and obviously the snap on for 5k or more.

All this is for converting my series 1 to 4x4, i will have alot more to do than my usual tinkering about and would liek to get myself something meaty to sit in the garage. Would be nice to have the "proper tools" sitting there when i went to do something.

What do you lot think, which one would suit my needs.....to be honest snap on aint gonna get it,.......i cant spend that sort of cash but dont want to buy something that will snap tools everytime i use them....

id buy a stainless rollcab from one of the mobs on ebay or suchlike , a 3rd of the price and much more durable than the equivalent snap on mac etc , fill it with decent quality stuff like teng, britool, taskmaster, halfords pro spanners etc, i wouldnt go for 1 big kit from one mob as lots of stuff in these kits you wont use, plus lots of it is poor quality, its horses for courses so id get the basics and leave room for the more specialized tools you will need to do a job like this right.

Id say box wise only get snap on or mac esp due to resale value if you ever had to sell it.

there are loads of mind condition used boxes available ( £600 for a nice 26" top and bottom )

id look at britool sold by mac tools dealers its very good tools for very good prices, but dont discount snap on some of the specials are very good.

this month is a full 3/8 socket, hex, torx bit set with extention bars ratchets and spanners £139 +vat

there is a company on ebay who do US Pro Tools boxes, loads of different styles and some come with a kit of useful tools in the drawers, give em a ring and see what they can do, approx a quarter the price of big stuff but still use ball bearing sliders and proper strong folded seams etc...

Don't write off the Snap-on kit until you have actually got a firm price off your dealer. You may be surprised at what he may be able to do on price. I can guarantee he will be cheaper than list prices.

agreed, too many people look at the list prices people use when talking about snap-on stuff, when they could just jump onto a van and have a browse through the offer sheet at all the latest promo bits, and whats on the shelves.

Some delaers will even have some traded in tool to sell on too which is always worth considering.
