mk3 escort quick shift?
Really? I've been told its a pretty easy thing to do.
What involved then? Is it literally a case of drilling two holes for the bolts into a short shift puma kit or is it the standard kit I use?

It's as easy as is already mentioned . Not a short shift as such but a very good cheap upgrade , I have one on my S1 . Much nicer feel to the gear changes and well worth the effort of drilling 2 holes
This is a picture of the bolt holes. You can see the two holes I drilled just behind the standard plate, which I ended up using to hold a steel plate to prevent there being a hole under the center console.

I found that the linkages bolted together are slightly different lengths. So the stick sat closer to the dash.

I ended up lenghtening the rods by 18mm

Bear in mind that if you are running a standard BC gearbox the puma gear stick will not self center when knocked out of gear.

Yes you can just bolt it up. I just wanted it to sit correctly and didnt fancy having a hole in the floor of the car as my old linkage had been chucked before I could take it to bits.
