Default efi xr3i problems

this weeks issues

clunking sound from front ,worse out of gear ,should i think driveshaft ?

car has vibratech mounts, polybushes, new tca,new lower arms, new springs

was chatting to a memebr off here last night for approx 40-50 mins ,when i returned to car which was sitting idling ,the battery light was on ,it drove 20 odd miles no problem but it wouldnt start when switched off (i tried whilst it was moving but had to bump it ) .
it started ok this morning but wont start now its hot ,the battery light bit is confusing me as i thought i may have cooked the starter motor and wont be able to test altenator or battery till later this afternoon .

any ideas

check the blue wire that goes to alternator and check the connections on the starter motor, as to the clucking could be a driveshaft or cv

Could be from the wire between the alternator and the starter motor getting hot and making it have high resistance and causing it not to charge. Not likely though. Could be duff alternator regulator? Did you have to bump start this morning or did it start from the battery?

well i changed the altenator for an xr2 one whilst i ordered the correct one for me ,it worked fine and had no issues for a day ,i fitted last night new altenator and it was going good till half way to work and the battery light has come on this morning .

i noticed the lights were playing up aswell and presumed the light switch was goosed ,i guess its electrical and need to book it into garage now

Could be a faulty earth on the lights.

As for the altenator id say its one of the leads or a wire is faulty or a gain an earth
