Default xr3i, mfi starting problem

hi can anyone help before i go out spending money on parts i don't need,

problem is if i leave the car for several hours it won't start so i have to bump it
but once i bump it i can turn it off and it will start fine,

im having an almost identical problem mate..have to toe it to get it started but then its fine and drives and pulls perfect.. HELP lol

i can bump it so easy then im good for an hour or so but if its left any longer than that it just won't start

ive had a hot start problem on my old s2 but never anything like this lol
im just glad its just a project car its embarrassing pushing the car when out and about

Well mines my everyday but its not so everyday atm lol dam thing, but im that busy with 3 engine builds atm iv not got time to look at it =/ if you get any results lemie no and if i do il let you no, all the best Dan

Oreet pal,

Do you have a spare cold start valve you could try? also check for air leaks around the throtle body and inlet hope this helps mate

i could get a cold start valve off my bros cab he is scrapping where abouts will i find it lol?

i spoke tto my other bros boss he reckons either starter motor or battery so i know my bros cab started fine so im going to swap things about one at a time and see what happens.

you sorted yours then?

Got an email add mate il send you a pic of mine starters normaly only fail when there hot because the close to the manifold normaly fine when they cool down

thats what i thought but ive another i know is working so will swap them anyway will keep me busy lol

its jus weird how i tried to bump it last night i wasnt going quick enough so it didnt start but i tried the key straight after and it fired up? bloody thing

sounds like you got a stivky starter then m8 i had the same thing with my old mg metro

the cab your bros scraping is it mfi to?

Cold start valve helps starting, especially when it's very cold outside. But without it, the car also should start fine, maybe just one or two seconds later.

First thing to check

Fuel pressure accumulator

When this isn't working, it causes problems like you describe!

thanx guys
its been weird i went round me mums this morning and it just started fine,
normally it wouldn't start after being left that long,bloody thing

might just sell it and buy a cheap rs turbo ive had afew people asking to buy it lol.

Sure not. K-Jetronic is very vulvnerable for air leaks. The car therefore would start bad when warm AND cold and would run like shit.

yeah ive checked for leaks replaced alot of old hoses and jubilee clips mate

my cousins got a brand new starter he bought for the cab before he gave up on it, will rob him of that
and the battery is new on it to, will swap c s valve, was to tired to mess about today

another quickie can you change the the model of a car on the log book?
the cab is down as a rs turbo?
