Default boost

I'm running a 4x4 saff with a stage 1 chip, green injectors (not sure which, they were there when I bought it), -31 and a standard turbo.

What sort of boost can I run without it going bang?? It's running between 15-16 psi at the mo, I know this is about right for the chip but if I upped it, what bad things would happen and how quickly??

The engine was rebuilt about 4000 miles ago so I don't really wanna have to go through that again.

Cheers

Same thing that happened to me, it'll seem fine, then when u go for a top end blat chasing something or whtever the car will run lean and melt a piston, i had the pleasure of that after only 1500miles after i rebuilt it!! when it comes to stuff like setting up boost etc leave it to the pro's mate!!!

I take your point dude, what boost were you running when it went tits up?? I'm only thinking of 20psi tops like . . .
It doesn't tend to get nailed a high speed that often, just hammered around the twisties etc

You wont be able to run more than 15 psi without a 3 bar map sensor, if its a stage 1, the 'greens' you have are probably light greens (355's). If you want to run more boost you will have to change your chip to a stage 2 one and get a 3 bar which at the moment can be quite hard unless you are prepared to shell out some redies. Also you will have to change your light greens for dark greens(803's). Hope this helps.

It does mate cheers. I'll have to check out the injectors to find out which they are anyway, what's the ID numbers for em . . . anyone??
3 bar map sensors, tell me about them. Got someone at the local motor factors tryin to source em, may have a bulk load soon, if he remembers where they are.

Gonna update everything next year me thinks to run als etc so I don't think I'll bother with stage 2/3 chip just yet.

Look on the side of the injectors at the top on the coloured part, light greens will have 355 on them and dark greens will have 803 on them.
