dodgy rev counter

right, I've taken the 3 plugs on the bulkhead of the engine bay off,
and actually replaced the multi plugs. cut off any of the kinked and broken wire that was there.
(will get a pic next tomorrow)
Definitly made a difference! the little hesitation that it had and
Occasional Slight mis fire further up rev range (along with rev counter jumping at same time) is gone.
car pulls really strong now,
the plugs BEFORE i changed and tidied up.

I know this is an old post but I'm having the same problems with my rev counter. Can someone please post a picture of the 3 plugs or tell me where they are in the loom as my loom has been moved so it's hidden
thanks

I have never had this problem myself but apparently some do as they cut them off and solder the wires, personally if it were me I would just be checking/cleaning the connections. You should be able to see them attached to the fender by the bulkhead, look for tape if not where someone has already done the above.

Mine has started doing the missfiring and rev counter going wild then gradually getting worse then dying totally. Letf a few mins then starts fine . Ticks over a few mins misfires and revs up and down and dies. Checked all connectors all seems fine so towed it home. Replaced all sensors and leads and it ticks over ok but not had chance to drive it yet but have a feeling it won't cure the problem. Car has new engine loom and stack rev counter I'll give the earthing wire a go but really don't know what else to try next.
I'll keep checking on this thread and hope for some new ideas

had this problem on a mates car tonight where it just died with no warning at all.. used this light that checks the leads for a spark and whilst cranking their was no spark coming from the coil.. although when ignition first switched on the coil gives a pulse out which im thinking rules out the coil.. what actually tells the coil to fire and when. some people say the crank sensor others say phase sensor or ignition amp. is their anything in the ecu that can controll this as again on this car all new sensors ect and it seems so random when it does it.
any ideas would be good....
thanks.
