Default please help its a weird one

last saturday night the oil light came on so i pulled over and checked ev thing. All seemed ok,i rang a friend who said it could either be the oil pump or sender,i checked under the cap and thought i could see plenty of oil splashing about i could of been wrong though.so i decided to try and drive home i only got half a mile up the road, i was traveling at 2000rpm when the revs started to die,i dipped the clutch and the car cut out.I tried to turn the car over and it was turning as if the batt was flat(very weak and slow).i rang a friend who towed me home
The car has been left until today,me thinking that the car is seized.
i tried to unlock the car door and i couldnt because the batt seemed flat but it is only 3 weeks old.. so i had to open bonnet from outside .
once i was in to engine bay i took plugs out and rocked the car back and forth in second gear, and everything was moving so the car doesnt seem to be seized.
Also when i put the ignition on the was no dash lights but the rev counter was jumping up and down and the engine wasnt on
so what im asking is what do you ppl think is wrong i havnt dare try and start as i dont want to do any damage..

1 other thing is the car didnt seem to make any bangs, knocks, noises or lock up.
any info greatly appreciatted thanks Greg p.s 2wd saff cos 89

Hi Mate,
I think you need to check your battery first, from what you describe it sounds like it could be completely flat or even shagged. After you have determined that the battery is ok, check your alternator charge rate, you should be seeing around 14 volts at the battery if the alternator is ok. Let us know how you get on.

if battery had gone very flat it may be lighting up lights trying to find a substantal earth ...i would check battery and start it up ... it has to be done sometime but that shud give you an answer as to engine condition.

that would be my decision.
