cossy boost problem
wondered if anyone can help. the other day i went chasing after 1 of them bmw 330 CIs and nailed it in second think i hit the rev limiter if cossys have them then changed into 3rd and had hardly any boost. checked all the boost pipes they seem fine and also changed the amal valve and still no joy. the car now only hits about 3psi and it got me stumped cos there is no smoke or bad noises from the engine and the turbo is fine. my own fault for putting it up 4 sale i suppose. any ideas?

car sorted now dont know wot is was for sure cos changed the amal valve and map senser and didnt sort it. wiring was really crap round the amal valve so sorted that then took the dump valve off and it works fine now if that makes any sence. sounds much nicer without dump valve but people tell me u got to use 1 is this true i only running stage 1.

You dont need to run a dump valve mate, at the power levels you have then its totally your choice!
i only had to fit a dump valve when i went onto light blues and a T38... and that was only to avoid turbo stall.
in my opinion it sounds a hell of a lot better with the wastegate chatter oposed to a dump valve... but its down to personal preference!!

waste gates dont chatter, its the noise of the turbo stalling you can hear.

wait til mike reads this!
Blimey... sounds like being at school! (you'll never guess what he said)
.... i was only offering my opinion to someone else.... if im wrong then gladly correct me - but maybe in a decent manor.
i was lead to believe that the wastegate penny abruptly shutting was the reason for this sound - inturn stopping boost and the sudden stop of airflow and the blades spinning back against the air caused this sound!
Sorry Bazpro... it would seem that i talk shit according to the perfectly knowledgable rapidcossie

every1 seems to have a different opinion on this subject. does sound much nicer than a dump valve though. my mates stage 3 4x4 sounds similar and he has a dump valve. is there different types.

STOP talking about wastegate-anything! Banish the thought from your mind. It's the sound of the compressed air from within the intercooler and pipework and inlet manifold forcing it's way back through the turbo compressor and out of your air filter.
