Default What Front Windscreen for my Saph??

Hi fellow Taxi Drivers.

Been a very long time since last posted on here

I need to get a new front windscreen. I have found a few that are green tint but is that the right type or is it another. And does it matter if it is heated or not?

cheeRS all :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Is it heated? If so then get a heated one. If it's not, get a non heated one. Alternatively, just ring your insurance company, who will put you through to whatever glass company they use, give them your reg and they'll work out the rest from there. If you aren't sure if you have a top tint, go look at it - it's pretty easy to see.

Yeah it is heated. Thinking of going through my insurance but I am potentially planning on getting the car fully resprayed once I have cut the rot out the windscreen frame.
Mine isn't tinted at the top.

Mines a green blue heated I had mine done when my car was painted I went through my insurance as it's the cheapest option. My brother works at Autoglass so he removed the old one and I sold it as it had the ford badge on it lol when I worked at Autoglass I did the screen and fitted a dealer one in it. New paint new screen so he got me a top tint

Best bet will be take it to the bodyshop you want the work carry out at, they'll remove the screen and do the metal work, paint it, then have the glass company go there to fit the new screen. Very common scenario.

Normally the insurance company dictates who you use. But be mindful most employees now in big companies will not have seen or done an old sierra so point out your very fussy and do not want it done by just anyone as you do not want it damaged. Other than that find an independent who grew up doing them lol. I'd only let my brother do mine as know it will look perfect and I'm fussy as fuck

I went through my insurance here and as luck would have it, the guy fitting it was a Ford enthusiast having owned Sierras, Granadas and Capris! He sourced a genuine Ford heated one with a bluey top tint. It works too which is a bonus

Philip.

Took me ages to fix my one as I had to source a new loom and dash switch. Persistence and as usual more and more money fired at it to get something working again

Hi matee. How's you?
Yeah she is ok and still running.
Got her through her MOT with just the widscreen as an advisry back in Jan after sitting doing nothing during the whole of 2016.
Had to change a wheel bearing due to the dust cover coming off I think lol.
Other than that did a full fluid change on the drive train last week. Diffs where very sludgy Oops.
Pondering now on giving her a full respray now as I'd spend the same amount buying another shell etc etc so just to it to my Saph. Yours ok?
