Default Best sump gasket and method

I know this has been covered before and there are so many diffetent opinions, but what is the best sump gasket to get for quite a high powered engine and also a good method or some tips on installing successfully.

Thanks,

Ash.

I imagine it is just a case of drain oil, unbolt the sump, remove the old gasket and make the mating surfaces as clean as possible before installing the new one. I would consider a thin smear of gasket sealant if you want to go over the top and then carefully tighten the new sump bolts up making sure you evenly torque them down and not over tighten (I imagine the torque settings can be found easily enough.)

Refil and check oil.

Not done a 2wd engine YB before so don't fully know but it is just an old pinto at the end of the day.

I've done mines, used a cometic gasket along with sealer as I didn't want to have to do it twice. People say don't use sealer but in the same sentence they'll say you can't stop them leaking lol.

Dunno the setup of your kit car but I had to remove my subframe

I imagine the kit car would be mounts on to chassis.

I don't understand why people are against gasket sealers as long as done neatly?

I've gone for an original sump gasket, will change that and if it's still leaking it will have to be an engine out job!

Yup, single phase. About £2200 but after a year with them I paid £1000 to set them in the floor as they got in the way....should have bought them and sunk them years ago....so much safer and easier.

Thanks mate! Car looks lovely you got anymore pics or a thread? What a garage! If I'm honest I've noticed a very very small bit of oozing coming from one of the welds on the sump so going to have it sorted by my mate whilst it's off, so will be taking a little longer than expected. Defiantly have to do something when the weather is nice!

Can someone recommend where to buy a cometic sump gasket please? Can only seem to find them as a bottom end kit not just the sump gasket?

Think I'll use original half moons and cosmetic gaskets

X power engines sells on eBay, just email him and he'll sell you one separate, and get the genuine moon seals not copies

Yes, we ought to have a good run out.

Thanks. I checked and it was only £400 to sink them in the floor, not £1000.

I love the garage, It can park 4 cars, has central heating and Sonos streamed music with sub and bose speakers in the roof. I have got a small double garage tagged on the side which it my workshop area.
