1990 4x4 Boot popping open over bumps
Since returning from panel beaters my boot keeps popping open when going over bumps. It seems to close properly and I have had a look from inside the boot and the catch seems to be rotated fully under the loop bar. You have to softly close it to get it to catch if that means anything to anybody. If you slam it shut it doesnt catch. Unfortunately this means it doesnt re secure itself over the next bump. The loop bit attached to the rear panel does appear a bit worn but it was like that before and didnt have the problem. I have pushed the interior release bar down (if you have a 4x4 you will know what I mean) to disconnect it, in case it was hitting and releasing it over the bumps but made no difference. I am sure it must be an adjustment thing or perhaps the boot lock itself has a fault. Any ideas welcome. Thanks David

As Jason said I replaced the part of the catch in the boot lid without adjusting anything and it is now working fine. I can not for the life of me see anything wrong with the old catch though. The spring is ok and it seems to latch - and I cant get it to release without pushing on the release lever. Interestingly I can now slam the boot and it catches whereas before it would only catch if you closed it gently. I guess it will remain a mystery, Thanks for your answers guys. David.
