I used my lass saff everyday and night lol for a year with no problems apart from a power steering fluid leak. Then I took it for a mot and they basically messed with it was never the same and eventually sold it.so yes they can be used if looked after but not sure about buying a cheap one mate

I use mine all the time..... but I do also kick its arse, and use it on track. So for those reasons it's often off the road getting fixes and upgrades! If I didn't though I'm sure it would be on the road all the time.
I do about 40k a year, and I've do about 8k a year in the Cossie maybe, with it not being used in the worst winter months.
Rust prevention is the only real downside to using an old Ford daily I think.

Daily use makes a car more reliable IMO better than this "rotting-in-the garage-over-every-winter"-thing. Using all my ford cars as a daily one by one from long trips to hard abuse, all went faultless all the time. would buy one main car and giving it good maintenance.
never had probs with stiff and rotten steering joints after buying some "summer toys" the probs began. if you don't use it, you lose it.

For the first 5yrs I used mine daily and never had any issues really. Then when I took it off the road to resell it fuel was Ł1 a litre, by the time I finished the rebuild it was Ł1.40! That was when I decided it wasn't a great idea using it everyday or I still would be

I usee mine all the time before it went in the bodyshop. As said above they were made to be driven.
You find a few cossie owners who dont use them have more problems than the cossies that do get used

I think it all depends on what your weekly drives are like.
I spend a lot of time in london most weeks and london driving in a hot saph with a paddle clutch and shit turning circle is no fun.
But when home in oxford i was using it most days of the week over summer.
Plus storage is an issue, Over summer it lives on my driveway. but sadly with no garage it has to live at my parents house over the winter which is half hour away. its got a couple rust bubbles and even these last 2 weeks of rain have made them worse. as mentioned above, rust i find is the main reason most of us refrain from winter use.

I wouldn't use a sapphire cosworth as a daily car, they are heavy on fuel and if you make a lot of miles for work -home traffic... at the end of the day you are working for free if you know what i mean.
Offcourse this is all personal, i just bought me another one because i like them (ok ok it's an addiction )
