Default alloy steering rack bushes are 2wd diff to 4wd?

i bought a new set of alloy steering rack bushes off a mate of mine that had got them for his 4wd saff .i now want o use these in my 2wd saff and they seem a half inch longer ,i take it as the crossmembers are different the bushes must be different .can i just take the hacksaw and cut these bushes down by the required amount to use in my 2wd setup

advice appreciated

according to this there all the same.Mine were a bit tight to get back in the cross member.

they should fit, the alloy crossmember can get a little bent when you tighten up the bolts so remove the rack and see if they slot in before fitting them to the rack itself

if you can massage the rack a bit to get them to fit it should be ok

you could also try and file them down a bit if they are only a mm out or the like?

Not sure about the sizes, but personally I wouldn't cut them, if they end up being too small you'll have play in the rack and defeat the purpose of using them.
I have a set lying in the garage that I've never fitted, they were supplied by the company that Glenn posted the eBay link for.

Do what Dojj said put the metal bush together and see if it will slide in.

Its a weird one,When you press the standard rubber ones out are they shorter than the metal bushes.
