Urgent cossie help....
Changed the timing belt and now its hunting badly, all the timing marks are lined up correctly, I checked no metal on metal by rotating the engine several times by hand, tension is a firm 90degrees at the midpoint if the longest point, it starts fine then after about ten seconds of good running it hunts between 500-1200rpm! Drives ok, what could it be??? There is also a wine as it hunts, but not otherwise??

Has the distributor pulley moved, have you checked for air leak,if you disconnect the idle speed control valve does it tick over evenly, may be lowish,if so just need to re set idle speed on throttle body to 850rpm then reconnect idle speed connector, hope that helps

Yeah the bottom pulley was lined up to the trailing edge of the cps lug against the block, will recheck inthe day light tomorrow.
The auxiliary pulley was in the correct position when I checked, but if that had slippe a tooth could that still mean it runs correctly for a few seconds before deciding to hunt?

Thanks guys, will check these when I get home.
Martin, would that still be he case if it idles for the first 20secs or so correctly after start up then starts to hunt?
