Cortina 1.6 to mk1 Sierra engine swap ? Advice
Will a 1980 cortina 1.6 engine and 4 speed be a straight swap into a 84 mk1 Sierra , just change rad, mounts, exhaust and anything else ? Any other things need changed when fitting to the Sierra ?
My engine needs rebuilt and thought this would do until I built a 2.0 next year
Thanks for the help

You may need a different gearbox cradle as most sierra were a 5 speed apart from the 1.3. Use sierra mounts and id say you were away with everything else. Ex manifold may be different but use the sierra stuff and its a straight fit id say. very easy swap and could be done in a few hours. Why use the 4 speed though. if you have a sierra that the engine has expired but eveything else is there then just use the bare block and head and everything else from sierra

Unfortunately my car is an early 4 speed Sierra
My engine was already stripped before i got the car and I've seen a rebuilt cortina 1600 close by already built so thought I'd just drop it straight in
Cheers

It will.Im sure the sierra and tina will use the same box but may have a different cradleso just make sure you use the sierra one. If the carbs are the same its all good but if not just use the sierra one and the sierra exhaust manifold and it'll all boltup rather nicely
