hello mate,
to remove the ignition barrel first remove the cowling so you can see the ignition lock assembly you should be able to see a small hole in the aluminium housing near the ignition lock approx 4mm in diameter. put the key into the lock and turn it to position 1, poke a thin screwdriver into the hole while pulling gentle on the key, the barrel should now slide out.
when putting the new barrel back in: key in position 1 line up the barrel and push it home firmly. you should hear a click when the release button drops into the hole.

Ignition barrel
Hi, does anyone out there know where to source a new barrel for a Ł Door Cossie. Mine is playing up. When turned to position 3 to start the car, it will not hold in position 2 for car to continue running. Any one else had this problem?.

ignition switch
Further to my previous post, it is not the ignition barrel that is the problem. After some brilliant advice from Tremona Garage on further checks, it is the ignition switch that is the problem. Does any one out therte have one. It is for a 1987 3 Door Sierra Cosworth.

Got an ignition switch from Gary at RS Breakers in Porchester. Sorted out wiring which had been played with in the past. Installed, problem solved..Thanks again to Richard at Tremona Garage and Gary.
