Default No dash readings when cold..... Help

Got a strange problem with my car. Its a E reg sapphire cosworth.
The other morning i started my car and i got no dash readings, i.e rev, temp, accurate fuel and also the heated front and rear screens wunt work. I drove to work (round the corner) and checked the charge rate and it was only at 8v so i assumed the alternator was gone. On my way to get a new alternator and about a mile down the road every thing just began to work again. So got the alternator and went back to work and checked my charge again and it was at 13.6v so back to normal. Did a battery test and the battery had a cell down so i thought this must be the problem so dint fit the alternator and fit a battery.
Next morning same happened so i checked the charge again and as it is a new battery i had 11.9v so took it for a drive up the road and again every thing started working after about a mile. So i replaced the alternator as i had bought it but not sent it back and the next morning same thing.

Has any 1 had this before or herd of it?
Sorry for a bit of an essay just wanted to explain the symtems the best i could.
Thanks

Yes, check fuse 22, not only that it is good, but the terminals are free from corrosion etc.

The revving is causing the charging to start!
