Comparing a 22 year old car to a car that is still under 10 years old is a bit daft. They both do something in very different ways.

And as for the Focus being quicker than a standard 2wd Sierra Cosworth, in a straight line at least I dont think so. Much lighter than the Focus with the same kind of power
It's not lighter, in fact it's about the same as a 2WD model I should think, and a 4x4 would be heavier probably.

And it's not as fast, leave alone faster, look at the figures, the FRS is slower both to 60 and top speed (2WD figures), the ST225 has more power than a FRS and would be faster, official 0-60 figures are the same as well, as near as makes no difference

2WD Sierra = 1220kg
Focus RS = 1278 kgs

Power

Sierra = 204 bhp
Focus RS - 215 bhp

I can honestly not see there being much difference in out and out pace, more down to the driver surely?

On the corners the Focus would make it look silly both standard

Lots of things can be added to a saph to make it handle better etc engine aside to compare the rest of the car to a Sierra Ghia is a bit of an oversight Paul

Luciano

Yeah MK1

Sure we can't get a lot of parts for our cars now either

Lots of things HAVE to be added to a Cosworth to make it good, Focus is good out of the box. Sapphires are just bodykitted Ghias really lol

Sapphs are better than Escort Cosworths - they are a truly horrible car to drive

i sold my focus rs because it was boring, yeah its was quite quick (328 bhp), in the dry!! had a cock in saxo vts shit on me in the wet, as there just no grip, by the time wheels have stopped spinning you going to fast for normal roads, i had to fit a 4 channel boost controller so i could turn the ramp down for wet days. but it did handle and stop well.
but ive come back to saff cosworth, more fun, plus there something about a cossie that makes me feel like a kid again,

Trouble I think is people get strung up on mileage and owners too much.
Mines 1/2 way through a rebuild to the point where it literally needs putting back together and setting up (all painted and rebuilt motor etc) but I got told that at 136k its "High mileage".
What,on a 23 year old car?
Which has been rebuilt!!!
I'm not even sure of the number of owners tbh but I think it's quite low ,it didn't really concern me to be honest,I bought the car on the basis it was an excellent base to start from, rebuilt motor, rare ebony, aircon etc,a few nice touches but I'll put any money on it when it's done and I decide to sell people will say "be more realistic, you can get these for £3000 now",well the usual suspects will!!!
The thing right now is that anything with an rs badge is getting silly money, even a mk4 xr3i seems to be a £3000 car when in all honesty they were crap new,in my youth they were a proper chav chariot worth £500 with a long mot.
Keep looking at this time now, just before Xmas could be the time to swoop.

+1,mine is now 114K, was lower when bought and I am the 22nd owner, as you say is isn't high millage it's merely average, considering these were once everyday cars, the average millage is 10K per year.

Almost every Cosworth has had multiple owners anyway, as they tend to change hands fairly quickly, either as people can't afford to keep them (thats why there are alot that have been bodged out there), or move onto other cars.

It needed work but then I knew that when I got it as I wanted something that would need work, so therefore it cost me less to buy, high millage isn't always a bad thing anyway, quiet the opposite, as what would you rather have a car that hasen't been used or a car thats been used and had a rebuilt motor.

Martin.
