What is the going rate to rebuild a Cosworth T5 Gearbox?
As above?
What sort of money are we being charged to rebuild these box's?
Mine is slightly stiff getting into 1st gear, no whines or crunches on up or down shift.
Would like a rough price to compare with locals to make sure I am not getting my pants pulled down
thanks
Mark

No these are the guys I'm on about.

They recently rebuilt my diffs and seem very knowledgeable and helpful, best advice I can give is call them and see what you think for yourself.

Any more info please post

emailed GEARS and the reply...........
To rebuild your gearbox with all new bearings, syncro rings, selector fork pads, syncro ring springs, clips and shifts. seal etc etc is Ł500 plus delivery
An exchange box is Ł650, these are more expensive as they have hub hubs through out
so not bad

I do a lot of these boxes and to be honest you dont know what the costs are before its in pieces. Sometimes the 5th gear wont come off without grinding; then you will need a new one which of course mean higher the costs. Very often the dogs on the gears and selectors (hubs) are worn out due to rapid gearing / abusive cossie owners, hence these will need to be replaced.
Any workshop who do these transmissions will (hopefully) tell you this; if they dont and only fit a cheap 200p overhaul kit + labour costs then most likely the box will fail very soon. It wont help just fitting new syncrorings when there are 3 parts to the syncro mechanism. (gear, syncro hub and syncro ring)

i suppose the best thing to do is email a couple of places, i know places were they only fit what is worn (no good in my opinion) its best to get a full overhaul if in doubt ask for the old parts back!
