Well it looks as though I may have to wait more than I was lead to believe.
I was desperate to have it ready for the All Ford Day at Bassendean last weekend of October, but it seems the Gov and others will conspire against me and it will be mid November at the earliest.
If thats the case I will trailer it to the show.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
it's good to know that there are more of these fantastic cars being brought into australia, I myself have brought my 1990 ford sapphire cosworth 4x4 from New Zealand and live in brisbane, it is currently undergoing a rather vast rebuild, as for parts I go through woodford garage motorsport who have looked after me brilliantly and are alwyas helpfull when questions are asked.

That sucks Keith, but it'll all be worth it when it arrives
For all you Aussies, get onto the Classic Ford forum and post in the Sierra section. Amongst other things we are trying to get some numbers together for a 25th anniversary meeting of the RS500 next year and need as many people as we can get to make it worthwhile.

Its now 18 days sitting in a container in Manchester, you have to wonder what was this "prompt" service you paid for ?
So much for my chances of having it ready to show at the end of Oct in the Perth All Ford day.
I should have known better really
If its on the road for the New Year I'll be bloody lucky.
OH well

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Sad news kieth, when i was looking to get parts (wheels) shipped over they told me it was 12 weeks. So i paid a little extra and flew them over, sadly you can not do this with a car (unless you know someone who flies a hercules) I am going back to the uk in November and will be coming back 2 weeks later with case,s full to bursting with cosworth parts. Would love to see there faces on the xray scanner. But then will still have to sort out the other gear that is to big to fit in the case,s.

Just rang them tonight and vented my spleen !
They have promised to have it shipped next week, however they won't say if shipped means shipped to the docks or actually on a ship
When I was there 2 months + ago they promised to,ship within 5 days of receiving the car.
Unfortunately they have you over a barrel.
I'm just annoyed to haste to miss the All Ford day really, other than that I can wait.
PS if you are planning to go to the Perth motor show this weekend I wouldn't bother...yawnnnnnn.
Cheers

At last !!!!!
I've just been told my car is finally in a container and on its way.
They have had it in their yard for one day short of a month
I took a pic of the speedo before I left the Uk and if its any more than one mile added when it gets here I reckon I will sue them.
The guy in Manchester was really excited when I contacted him in June when I was there, said he LOVES Sierra Cossies. If the mongrel has been driving it around on trade plates for the last month I will be after him !
The one consolation is its moving
Cheers

ETA 8th October 2011, jeez it might still just be possible to make the All Ford day but it will depend on the co-operation of the engineers and the Vehicle inspectors, and customs, and quarantine, and the clearing agents....... depressing isn't it
I've just found out a new expense too, I have to pay $150 to a " valuer" who will assess its value for duty
oh well.

Who told you that you need to have a "valuer" assess the car for duty....?. You do need a value for duty purposes but you defiantly do not get it this way. Well, you can if you want but it will cost you more in the end.
If you want to have a chat, PM me.

Well its here.
I saw the car yesterday after receiving a call to say there had been transit damage. And there has
Not too much but it looks as though its been shaken around quite a bit at sea.
They also reported that it would have to be cleaned internally as well as externally as there were leaves inside the car. There were indeed leaves inside the car, but how Australian Gum leaves got in a car from the UK I can only guess.
it seems they have many ways to make money from you in the transport game. The girl agreed with me they are gum leaves, but, as the report had already gone to Quarantine, there was no way to change the instruction to clean inside and out.
I have heard so many bad reports about the firm they are using to do the cleaning that, to be honest, I'm scared to imagine what it may look like when I get it back. Also it will take 7 days to do it !!
This all means I will pick up the car about 2 days before the All Ford day in Perth.
Being realistic, I think I will hold off trailering it there, it may look like a heap of sh*t when I get it.
I'd rather get it finished and tidy and than show it " off the boat".
Lots of pitfalls in this importing lark and I still dont know how much Customs are going to slug me, the extra cleaning is $650 !!
I was going to look for a Granada Scorpio as well , but I've def changed my mind about importing another one.
Cheers

I asked to be at the container opening but under health and safety regs i was not allowed on site.
I'm fully insured but how can you get around someone stitching you up with a handful of leaves?
I have the leaves and pics of them in place. It puzzles me why the sunroof was wide open, perhaps thats how the leaves got in there , but why open it.
Anyway there is stuff all i can do as any queries on my part will result in delays and as I instigated them I'll be up for storage charges as well.
i just have to sit back, accept it and then go for the jugular once I have the car.
Cheers

Yep,
just bought all the cleaning stuff, and contacted Ross who is doing the required mods for me. I'll get a permit and drive it up to him Monday morning then the serious stuff can start.
Hopefully 3-4 weeks I'll be on the road at last.
I have decided NOT to trailer it to the ALL Ford day, I'll just go and help out on the Ford Rallye Sport Club stand and take lots of pics.
Cheers

My son in law is a traffic cop, if you drive an unregistered car under a permit to anything other than an inspection or to have the vehicle repaired for an inspection the fine is horrendous. He reckons I would not get away with saying I'm taking it to a show.....
Its cost me enough so far, why risk a couple of grand fine ust to show it looking sad and tired?
I think I'd rather hold back so everyone can say " sh@t look at that Cossie !!"
Next time !

Yep its original UK Ford owned rego D767PVW
I've now got copies of both the UK and the OZ magazines where my car was loaned to the equivalent of Top Gear to do the road tests.
It's very strange to see your own car reviewed as the Ford demo !
Especially against BMW, Merc and Porsche !
And to come out best ads well !

One's 3 dr Ford Sierra RS Cosworth is sitting in one's driveway.
Flat battery but with a boost pack she runs sweet.
I've already removed the silly blue stickers my mate put on her, washed her, and tucked her up into bed.
New battery tomorrow, then off to Ross next Monday to start the rego process.
Isn't life sweet ??
Cheers all and thanks for contributing to my saga !!

I should fill you guys in.The injectors were blocked, the fuel regulator was stuffed. All have been replaced.......... then the turbo decided it wanted to push oil through !
I got a turbo from Rolly at Racetune that had been built for John Bonds Sierra 10 years ago, Its a bigger inlet and a few other mods, still trying to get details.
So its running well, is street legal ,but the alternator issue is still a prob.
Once its been on the road for a few weeks I'll get it tuned and then dynoed and we'll see how it go's from there.
Isnt life a bitch !
Cheers

PassionFord Post Whore!!
There was a Performance or Fast Ford feature on a white 3door with a rego ending the same as that, pretty sure it had plates from MJA. (car dealer in Surrey) I'll dig through all my old copies and see what I can find.... (Bear with me!)

st170 breaking
if it was just an alt stopping me from driving it i'd just get some batteries to keep swapping every 5 miles
good luck tho, remember pics are free and we love em, even just of aussie stuff

Car mag of May 1987 featured my actual car, and I have a copy of the original magazine , also Australian Wheels Mag of Dec 1986 also featured my car and I have a copy of that too.
It seems my motor was loaned out to most of the Top Gear journos of the day.
No wonder I'm having probs now with them thrashing it
It was one of four owned by Ford as demos it seems. I'd love to know more of its history .
Cheers

Just an update,
The car is on the road....... done about 60 miles in it as of today so we will see how it goes from now on.
I'm sure its not fully sorted but I'll use it as my daily drive for a few weeks and see what happens.
I'd like to thank you all for the help, guidance and the comments over the past 7 months.
Once I feel its ok to work with I'll start the performance upgrades.
i just want to see how a car thats been stored away for 18 years responds to daily use before stressing it and my bank balance any more.
Incidently the budget I planned for the car purchase in the UK, shipping and getting it on the road here in Australia has only gone over by about $800.
SO FAR
Thank you all
Cheers
Keith
