The std 2wd 16mm brackets from the std bar are fine, and what I use on my adjustable 22mm rear arb.

you just need to change the bushes as they have bigger holes in them

Does fitting a esc cosworth 22mm roll bar to 2wd sapph actually make a noticeable difference to a road car? let me know weather you notice the difference,

Just asking as I'm refurbing my rear beam etc at the moment and looking for other things to do while it is in bits.

The difference is like night and day, and that's an understatement!!
I experimented by running no rear arb versus 16mm rear versus 22mm rear, the 22mm is head and shoulders above the 16mm, car just sits so much flatter, and is soooo much more stable at high speed on bends etc, esp when there are bumps, add to this a poly diff mount and you'll wonder how you ever coped before.
For me I did it as people said, it can't be done it won't work, just need to re jiggle tyre pressures around to get the best front/rear.

I'd be surprised if you DIDN't notice any difference - I've tried all 3 sizes ( 16, 18 and 22mm )

The Escort one is over 3 times stiffer than std 2wd Sapphire

Apologize to Papillon for hijacking he's thread,

but do you know tabetha if all the escos variants used the same 22mm ARB and how big is the Granny ARB, also are they a strait swap or would there be clearance issues because I already have a poly diff mount and the standard 16mm ARB is very close ?

AFAIK all Escos used the 22mm RARB - you will need the countersunk diff mount bolts for sure - the Scorpio Cosworth one is 21 mm I think

Cheers Mike,

I have already countersunk the top bolt on the diff mount and the 16mm ARB is still very close, I will see if I can find a granny ARB and try that probably easier to come by, I have been looking for an escos one but they are like Hens teeth.

The scorp cossie SALOON arb is roughly the same shape, but the part that is the rear most around the diff is a LOT longer and will foul on most cossies, hitting the fuel tank, though is ok with some pattern tanks.
I have a poly diff mount, and a tow bar that has TWO massive hunks of metal bracket there in a "U" shape from shell to bar, and a 22mm adjustable rear arb, and have room, was a pig to make though, out of correct sprung material that the oe bars are made from on cars.
The cost was Ł80, but I gave him Ł100, as mine was made on the car from a straight bar of the metal ENT40 I seem to remember(?), so worth considering, certainly no more than some cowboys are asking for escos ones.
It's not all plain sailing though, the car WILL handle very different and need getting used to, being a lot stiffer at the rear the front will wash out/understeer in comparison to previously, so need to have a good jiggle with springs/rates and tyre pressures to get the best, the car can be "balanced" via tyre pressures.
Still imo well worth doing, but for those not already on a poly diff mount get one first, these will take away a HUGE amount of the roll, due to far better location, and are what I would have if I had to choose and have just one thing ie a choice between a poly mount OR a 22mm arb, would be poly for me everyday.
