Default best cams for 400+ gt30.

as above, been searching through for bd14's etc but read they would collide with the pistons unless 4x4 or pocketed pstons are used?

spec:

Gt3071r
swedish plenum
2wd head
205 bottom end

Would the best be a bd14 inlet and STD exh, or would 400-420 be possible on a standard head+cams?

Do a search for AB07 cam, this will do what you want.

The AB07 is the only decent cam you will get unless you speak to one of the big tuners regarding a custom cam

cheers for them bram, would it still be making power at 6500+ and is that correct the bd14 has .017 more lift? Does this effect performance much?

cheers

Tbh you don't have alot of choice if your not running pocketed pistons. Mine was still making power at 6.8k on a T4 with this cam. I have built a new engine with pocketed pistons and have decided to keep my AB07 cam, having been out in T4 cars running BD16's, i feel the AB07 makes for a nicer drive on a road with the way the power comes in.

take it theres alot more torque made from the standard inlet cam then, would the swedish plenum make a difference also?

How much did you guys pay for yours if you dont mind?

Bd's are cheap compared to the 256's i bought for my starlet.

cheers

The AB07 is a win win cam on both power and torque.

I lost no bottom end power or torque when i had mine fitted and made big gains in both higher up running the same boost.

If you do a search you will find my graphs before and after the cam was fitted.

Boost were you running with that nash, the good thing is a gt3071 comes on boost earlier than a t4

Interesting as i'm in two minds about rebuilding mine again with pockets and that was the inlet choice but.....

I've only been in one T4 car, don't even think it was running full potential but lets just say it comes on boost that hard i seriously didn't believe the brakes could stop it if they needed to - they are an awesome turbo on the right engine

Like i said its a good cam

Both graphs are with the same boost as well.

The RPM scale is a few hundred rpm low on the second graph.

It now has a few more ponys and will spin the wheels in 3rd at 80 lol

Ab07 is an excellent cam and offers both power and torque increases throughout the range without compromising bottom/mid range torque. The bd series of cams are now old hat,not saying that they are not good but a lot of modern tuners these days say there are far better cams developed since the bd series.

Thanks.Lee.

Thats odd as when Ahmed mapped my car in 2007 he recommend fitting one of his new cams he had just designed, Ahmed said he had just finished testing them. How sure are you that urs is an AB07 and not a CW1?

James you only read good things about his inlet cam but you can't buy one off the shelf as such can you?

So unless your having a complete engine build or aftermarket management they are not available

Chris,

I believe Mark will sell you one providing he times the engine up Not sure if he would need to map it also, or whether he's happy for you to let someone map the Weber for you. Give him a bell he'll soon tell you
