Default Temperature gauge

Hello again people.can people tell me how there temp gauges sit on there cosworths.on mine driving around it sits on the o letter on my gauge.and in traffic it will go to the top of the n on the gauge.recently changed the temp sensor and it seems to be sitting higher .also the fans dont kick in til up near in the red.has had a fan rewire,82 thermo and msd switch.does my gauge sound incorrect?

If you had a pound for every correct reading temp gauge in a cossie you'd be a very poor man!!
Seriously they are notoriously inaccurate, my fans cut in at 95C, by the ecu, and this can vary wildly on the gauge from bottom of the M to half way through the N, but all the temp is the same!!
If the fans are cutting in and going off then I wouldn't worry, you have the std cossie feature a lying temp gauge!!

Thankyou tabetha.its annoying when the gauge is high thinking its goin to overheat.i wonder back in the days when they first came out if they had the same problem.

As said although you can gauge a rough estimation from the gauge they are by no means accurate at the moment mine tends to hover around the R mark, the fans on mine come on at 88 degrees as I have the standard fan switch and off at 77 degrees, the switch you have is better as the fans come on later but for a much shorter cycle (Hence your gauge showing a high reading), in comparison the standard one brings the fans on to early and for far to long, this is what leads to melting fuses etc!

Another gauge to look at to distract you from driving with eyes on the road, I just let my ecu sort the fans.

Probs one of the best things I have purchased for the car.
The facked it tels u folts as they come up is fantastic. Mine is on a suction pod so don't have it in all the time but can be interchanged between cars when friends need it.
Allso this tells u what temps the ecu is getting from the sensor so u can check fans work corectaly
Not somthing 2 take ya eye off the road. Same as looking at the temp gadge on the clocks or anbout the same time u are looking in a mirror
