the front hubs are different and the 4x4 shockers are bigger
the rear beam's differant but as far as im aware the rear swingarms springs and dampers are the same.

The front struts have a thicker body on the 4wd, the rear shock bottom eye fitting is wider on the 4wd ones, but just cut 1/4" off each end of the "tube" in the centre and it fits perfect.

but then you will need a lot more work

plus the suspension is designed to work with the heavier V6 engine

Well i want to upgrade my suspension, looked at gmax and spax kits but also looked at coilovers but I've heard that coilovers can actually mAke the handling worse on the road because of how harsh it becomes over bumps, any advice?

You have been listening to too much pub talk.
I run coilovers(AVO), and although it is defo firmer than a std set up, they can be sued with whatever spring you want poundage wise, so could be softer than std set up if that's what you want.
When mike(opposite lock) went in my car he commented it was the most comfy car he'd ever been in in the rear, he's not the first to say this, never having been in the back I can't say if I'd like it, but I find it more comfy than my dads ghia mondeo for example.
Your best bet is to get rides in cars with various different set ups to see what you like, but coilovers due to the adjustability can be made exactly how you want them.
For the road I think Koni adjusty with chassis dynamics(avo) std ride height take a lot of beating, but some prefer the ahmed springs with koni.
Try to blag some rides in different cossie sis my advice before spending money.

charlie luciano runs coilsovers on his motor and even though the ride is spot on, he does say it's a bit harsh in some circumstances

I've proper group n Bilsteins on my car and the ride is perect for the road - I'd descibe it as felling like a sporty BMW. Thats down to road orientated rated inserts and springs though.
