Default Oil choice /daily use

Hi in these sub zero temperatures i,ve been thinking of ditching my 15/50 mobil 1 in my YB engine , would a 10/40 mineral for example be a better choice in this climate?

The other day my tappets took forever to shut up and it got me wondering whether fully synthetic is good for it at -5 degrees like today .

Any thoughts on this ?

For the amount of cold we have there's no point imo, but I wouldn't be using mobile 1 15W40 to start with, a nice 5W50 would be a lot better.

Std recommended oil is actually 5W30, plain as day in the ford handbook, it is the closest to our temperature.
Oil has come a long way since the days of the yb engine being new, tolerances are much tighter, machining better now.
Even on a fresh engine if you go thrashing, which is good for the oil, it will thin out a lot more than a 50 weight.
