screamer pipe

It basically works as a exhaust gas release pipe for turbos that run an external wastegate. With a standard T3 for example it has an internal wastegate so the screamer isn't needed. When u go up in turbo sizes to something like a GT35 this kind of turbo works with an external wastegate. The turbo its-self will look bigger and meaner than a smaller t3/t34 version but it wouldn't have an actuator attached to the side of it. (this there is no wastegate inside for it to hook onto!)
Turbos like the one i mention (GT35) have to have a different exhaust manifold made which a external wastegate will fit on to.......the external wastegate will control the boost when driving along as it would do on a standard smaller internally wastegated turbo. The way a screamer pipe works in that the external wastegate will have a pipe venting exhasut gases out of it...this is usally plumbed back into the exhaust further down the exhaust elbow..But in some cases's the pipe is made longer and gets vented to atmosphere under the car and not joined back up to the exhaust. This is whats called a 'Screamer pipe'. You won't see many people have them as they pump out around 120db when there on full chat and the usual noise limit for a trackday in this country is 95/100 db!
Hope you understand!
