Default throttle position sensor

hi

i had my 2wd saff cos set up yesterday and they told me that my throttle position sensor is buggered causing the car to jerk about and splutter. ive tried getting hold of a new red one and ive been told that you cant get hold of these any more only the black ones for a 4x4 are being made.

if i was to fit one of these later throttle position sensors to my car would it work ok?

any help would be great

cheers

DO NOT change the wires. That is only necessary when you use another ecu type.
It might work. However, I don't think this is the cause of the splutter.

oldford: 2wd is L6 yes ?
4x4 is L8 ?

EDIT: So people don't misunderstand. The switching of wires only work if you buy a NEW PF09 sensor, not changing on your excisting PF01

hi guys

thanks for the replys

ive got l6 ecu

on my secs monitor in the car it doent show any throttle movement for a 1 sec or so and then it splutters shows the throttle % and then is ok untill you come of the throttle to change gear and it does it again.
the tuner put a break out box between sensor and loom and tryed it with his meter and said it looks like your sensor is buggered.

so if i just cut and rejoin the 2 outer wires the later sensor will be ok?

cheers

Sound like a tps mate Could try to open it and tighten the spring, but will most likly be needing a new.

Yup, or if you are handy you can change the plugs inside the connector. But a simple cut and solder would be a lot easier

You could try using a pencil rubbed over the lower track part this can sometimes give a bit more life, the wear point is usually just above idle, increase the low set point via the allen screw inside may help.

Just put it on the D shaft leaving it a few mm off contacting the tb then gently rotate it against the sspring pressure say 1/2" and let it spring back, screw down in that position should be fine.

ive fitted a pf09 tps and switched the 2 outer wires over.
the secs monitor is now showing 100% throttle when idling and then goes down when you touch throttle.
since fitting the pf09 the engine chugges and blows smoke when reved up.

have i done something wrong or does something need adjusting?

cheers

Hmm sounds strange. Are you sure you have the L6 ECU ? Cause L1/6 are reading 0-5V at the tps, and L8 are reading 5-0V. That's why you needed to change the two wires.

In your case 100% tp on idle, you'd need to change the wires back

Yes, you have done something wrong. Change the wires on the tps back to original.

Mine show 4% at idle and 100% at full open trottle, you can use the secs monitor, to adjust it, but change wires first

thanks for all you help ive now got it sorted sort of.

right ive changed my wiring back to how it was and she now runs as sweet as, the secs monitor is showing 4% with ign on and 99% full throttle.

should the tps be turned slightly to adjust or should i set the secs monitor instead, if i need to set the monitor does anyone know how this is done

many thanks

Leave it as it is. You don't need exactly 100% on WOT. WOT is triggered at a lower level.
