N7A (Escort rs2000) in a Ford Sierra?
Hello, im new to this forum and Norwegian, so please excuse my bad english.
I have a 1992 Ford Sierra with the N9C engine, the 2.0 8valve DOHC. It lacks a bit of power and it isn't exactly sporty, and i would really like to do something about it. I have been searching norwegian forums for information on building Ford Sierra with N3A/N7A engines, but it seems Us Norwegians are all about Cosworth. I think it would be interesting to show up with something unusual, at least in Norway. A Sierra With a DOHC 16v N/A engine would be fun. I am in the process of gathering information on this built, because getting this approved by what we call "Statens Vegvesen" who are the responsible for road and vehicles in Norway. We have pretty strict rules on building/altering with vehicles in Norway, since we are not EU. I have some questions that i could not get an answer to on Norwegian forums:
1.Is it correct that the N9C and the N7A engines are based upon the same cylinder block? Are there differences in Engine mounts and so one or does the N7A fit on the Engine mounts in my sierra?
2. Are there any main difference between the N3A engine from scorpio, and the N7a from rs2000, besides camshafts and engine management? Since the N3a is mounted longitudonal, It would fit better regarding intake and exhuast manfold and so on.
3. Are the N3A and N7a engines compatible with other engine components, such as ECU, cooling system and wiring harness?
4. I woould prefer to use the engine of an rs2000, but since it is mounted transversaly, can i fit intake and exhaust manifolds of a scorpio N3a? Or are the Exhaust and intake gates different on The N3a and N7a cylinder head?
5. Is it possible to get such a built accepted/approved in the U.K./EU? What else must be upgraded and with what parts. "Statens Vegvesen" in Norway wrote to me that such a built could be approved, as long as the vehicle is similar to the largest variant, which would be a 2,9V6? If anyone has a street-legal Ford Sierra with documentation regarding brakes and suspension and so on, or any documentaion at all regarding such a convertion, i would be most thankful for getting my hands on a copy of this.
I will be gratefull for any advice/ help i can get from people who have experience with other convertions than Cosworth, which is a little over my budget.
Thank You, and once again excuse my bad english.

yes the engines are the same block and you would need the n7a intake and the sierra manifold im doing this coversion on my car and im useing honda cbr 919 carbs to fuel the engine the only issue is the thermostat houseing as on the n7a it is mounted for fwd not rwd but i do have a solution to that as u can use a zetec one if you need any more answers just ask thanks jon

There are some interesting DOHC conversions on that place, I have a n/a 16v engine ready for my Sierra, a bunch of people done this in different ways and one or two 2.3 8v conversions, that when you open the bonnet look exactly standard like your current 8v - that would suit your "Statens Vegvesen".
