Default ABS faults on 4x4 overheated??

A mate of my dads has a 4x4 sapph and said after fitting new turbo he letf the heat shield off and went for a drive.
His ABS started playing up now has packed up. He said he has had sensors checked but may be down to ABS wireing loom that runs by the exhaust?
would this be a possability and what is needed to check or sort the problem?

Running the car without a heat shield on the turbo is a definite risk. I did before and it ended up buggering up the brake servo unit. I was coming down a hill and all of a sudden by brakes went rock hard. I pretty much had to stamp on them in order to stop in time. I had to replace the complete servo unit.

If it is just the abs that has gone then he mite of just buggered some wiring up. It would probably be a cut and shut on the wires in order to repair them. To be honest though mate the ABS is hardly missed on the saphs and rs turbos. It's a shoddy system when its actually working, and many people just do away with it all together.

no heatshield and rock hard brake peddle ring alarm bells with me.. this happened to my sapph the night after I picked it up from a full respray end of dual carridgway and peddle was so hard it was like there was a rock under the peddle.

bloody hell. Yeh my brakes went down the bottom of hunnyhill road funnily enough in my old saph, Luckily I was only going about 15 mph. When did this happen mate??? Is this recent or old? That is a shame, especially after just getting it resprayed
