Where to place Gauges?
I intend to install a Boost gauge (and probably coolant temperature and oil pressure as well) into my Sapphire, but I am struggling to find the right spot to place them.
I live in Australia (and the car is air-conditioned) so the usual UK solution of inserting a plate into the vent outlets isn't an option.
I don't want them to be too obvious or to ruin the otherwise mint interior.
I'd appreciate any suggestions or even photos of installations so I can see what others have done.
Thanks

I wanted to also keep my air vents, not due to summer heat there though as we don't get any!, so instead I removed the lights warning bit and the surround and clock, made a plate to fit here that houses my oil pressure oil temperature and volt gauge, as well as my inlet air temp display, still left room for my strobe light switches, shift light + buzzer, geadlight delay and adjuster.
So just another option you could consider, just cut mine out of 16 gauge(1.5mm), then used my 52mm hole punch drills etc, took a while to get a neat job, then covered with black plastic paper(matt).

Thanks for the suggestions.
Moving the stereo down the the equalizer slot sounds like a an option.
I'd be interest in a photo of the gauges in Tabetha and gaz4x4cos' cars.

tabetha - so you have a buzzer when its time to change? must get annoying or does it come on slightly later as a warning or something?
EDIT: why not just put them in the bottom slot instead of moving the radio?
i know there not as visible but its not like you could see the,m perfectly where the radio is

I have investigated the possibility of placing the gauges in the stereo opening. The stereo is a standard ISO DIN which means the opening is 50 x 180 mm. The gauges I have tentatively chosen are the Auto Meter Ford Racing Series which are 52 mm diameter. I don't know whether it is possible to widen the opening, and I guess I won't know until I remove the stereo for a look.
The equalizer panel seems smaller than ISO DIN so that may not be an option after all.
I have also searched for carbon fibre face plates into which the gauges could be mounted. There are custom plates cut for the air vents otherwise its a flat sheet that I would have to cut or get something made. Surprisingly, real carbon fibre isn't expensive.

Personally, either raido or equaliser slot.
I also have boost gauge on a pillar pod, and even there you don't get much time to look at it on boost as you're too busy driving!

cheers has bubbled up a bit round the edges so taken it out to repaint it but that was the best place other than taking the vents out which i didnt want to do!! mine are also mechanical so needed space to run the braided lines to the fuel/oil pressure pipes.
All i did was get another surround, then cut a plastic plate out and cut the holes for the gauges then stuck it on then smoothed the edges out with a bit of stopper and primed/satin blacked it, should look ok when ive done it again!!

Tabetha; I'd like to see some photos; I'll PM my email address.
Replacing the clock seems like the best option; I really like yours Toe Knee.
How do you shape the holes in the console facia; I was planning to use a Dremmell.
