I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Dump valves do not work on diesels, because there's no throttle and therefor no vacuüm.

you not to run a switch system, basically a microswitch that clicks on when you close the throttle, then then goes to a little control box, which has a feed from the vacume pump for the brakes, then a pipe to the DV, i have never done one on a sierra though.
Quick google search should give you some answer mate.

Yea as above. I went to a scrappy and found a vacuum control solenoid from a fiesta. To fit connect the vacuum solenoid valve with a good t-piece in the brake vacuum line. (make sure the T-piece is secure as when you really need those brakes you may find theyl not be very usefull if the vacuum line has disconnected or is leaking!) Run a vacuum line from the vacuum solenoid valve to the dumpvalve.
The microswitch will need to be placed where it will be triggered when throttle is released. Youl prob need to make a bracket. Use a inline fuse obviously and you have the option of putting a switch in there to stop it working when you dont want it. This allows the dump valve to get the vacuum signal needed to open the dumpvalve. Its pretty pointless on a diesel but i do love the noise

That was mine with one on, 1.15 on you can hear it best, wasn't letting it dump before then really.

i dont actually know, it made 105 or something like that when it was running really crap (14psi, but fuelling for 24psi), never RR'd it at 24 psi, at a guess 120-130bhp.
Was standard 106 gti sort of speed really, would destroy a VTR.
And would pull itself up a cliff in 5th gear near enough.

Thats the power i hope to be running on my 1.8 TD fiesta conversion after ive sorted the head gasket issues! ive a big FMIC on it and plan to get the fuelling and boost upped from 14psi and rolling roaded to see what is making but id hope about 120 - 130bhp. a big improvement on the standard 59 bhp it had with the 1.8D engine

I bought a cheap one of ebay for 50 but got the t piece n all with it, prob a petrol one. I havnt got mine working yet as i currently have the head of mine after a fecked head gasket and broken camshaft i got simple lever microswitch from maplins for a few quid.
I plan to see what what the noise is like from it then maybe pick up a baileys or better quality dump valve off ebay.

yea a m8 of mine has a glanza an he has dump valves an t pices laying all over the show so i think il go down a take his hks one.that vacuum control solenoid wer abouts is it on the cars would an escort an a mondy have one's to?
#16
Thatl HKS wil do nicely lol I think so. i pulled vac hoses of a mondy one time in a scrappy and i think there was one up in the top right behind the passenger front strut. Easy way to find would be to find vacuum hoses and trace those around the engine bay till u hit one. Just looks like a small cylinder and will have 2 wires going to it probs.

wat intercoller are u using for the fiesta cus i have a top mount from a mondy laying in me house but i want a front mount u think der would be much of a power gain between the top one an the front?

The biggest one that would fit of course! lol I got mine and harpipe kit and any extra hoses needed for about 180 total of ebay. I cant compare the front mount im running to the top mount setup ur talking about as i didnt try it on my car first. Youl def get more bhp form the front mount and it will give the car a lot more potential should you later decide to get the fuelling and boost upped!
My car as a 1.8D was only 59bhp, with the top mount 1.8TD it would only be 79bhp. My car feels a lot lot faster than that tho id say its closer to the 90's now with the front mount and standard fuelling and boost. When i get those upped i could be looking at 120-130bhp

well in me sierra im running a 2000 1.8td mondeo engine with no intercooler at the min.so im not sure wat bhp it has but i have an autodata program ere dat tells me dat it should have 90bhp with std fuel an boost with the top mount.
so im getting now a saab 9000 intercooler an advancing the timing on the pump cus i heard it works better than just screwing dem out an going to turn up the boost with a maual valve.
wat u think of dat set up?

oh the saab intercoolers good n big Should fit well infront of the radiator too. Ive got a manual controller for mine too, im not sure how to advance the fuel timing, do you actually take the belt off and adjust by a notch or 2 on the belt or is it a smaller tweak and do you loosen the bolts on the fuel pump pulley and do it that way? I was planning on taking mine sumwhere to get it tuned and rolling roaded to see what bhp its sitting at.

yea bigger is better.lol.going to get it of ebay.i think it the 3 bolts on the pump u losen dem an rotate it 10 degrees not sure wat way yet still trying to find dat out.dont no if il take it to the rolling road or not cus der not any of dem to close to me but as long as i can race a dturbo or a 90 bhp golf il be happy.

Oh rite il look in2 that. speaking of golfs...I dicked a golf the other nite in mine. He was accelerating flat out trying to pass me from about 50mph. It had just split in2 2 lanes btw not a side by side race down a single carriageway before u think im nuts! You could see him thrusting himself forward in the driver seat like a retard trying 2 go faster! lol he wasnt happy when i put the boot down n pulled away from him easyy!made my day

cheers mate. im sure ul get 110bhp easy enough mate with the fuel pump advance n upping the boost. I cant be sure exactly, it was a mondy tho and it says 1.8 diesel on the rocker so its an early one probably around 1996. I found it on gumtree and did see it first but not running i just took his word and ended up with head gasket issues lol but i did get it for 130 so what do you expect lol all in all pretty happy with it, just a bit more work than expected having to take the head off lol Back on the road soon tho
whats ur top speed? not that i would ever go over 70... cough cough. mine tops out at 96 im wondering is it the mk3 fiesta non turbo gearbox limiting it just?

not that id have much excuse to go to that speed too often... but nice to know its there if i want it lol
Ive a mk3 fiesta not sierra would n rs turbo gearbox be any better for top speed in that case or will there be no differnce as its caused by the low rpm a diesel has?
u have low top speeds because you are proably runnin std sierra ratios but are only revving to 4000rpm and u run off the power band.
but seriously, just buy a pinto or a twin cam and bolt that in
