What are you doing over winter? my cars not a mint example but still pretty nice, no rust in arches, underneath etc, feels like sacrilage to use it through the winter although i may just be being a tart!
am i going to do it any harm using it through the winter provided i keep on top of cleaning it? thinking more of when the roads start to be salted than anything else
whats the general opinion on this?

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I have used my others in the past daily and just used to wash them and blast the underside every day on my lunch break at work. Never had any issues. My current one has not moved since June and now has no tax or test. It will be next year before it sees the road now.

i suppose if washed underneath often and i mean often in winter then should not be a problem but if you want an example of how fast cars can rust with just water then look at your brake discs a few hours after washing on a summers day never mind winter then imagine that brake disc is a nut or bolt or even suspension component! having said that i used my rst through winter......mind you its now off the road for inner and outer sills front floorpans rear arches chassis rails and battery tray . if i didnt laugh i would cry! good job im handy with a welder!!

20K+ Super Poster.
I use mine everyday, not much mileage this week as busy breathing in petrol fumes from someone else's cossie(500bhp+), but some weeks do 600-800.
It gets cleaned about 1 a month whether it needs it or not.
Carry dog in the car to clippers etc, muddy boots, etc, I consider cars so expensive to own and run, that I want as much use as possible from it, going to do around 2000 miles around Scottyland over X mas, going to see the monster as well.

It can be costly yes on a busy week, but that only happens if I am specifically going somewhere I need to be as opposed to just for a drive.
I wired up me 12N trailer socket today, and forgot to wire up the beeper for the indicators, found out just after I put everything away quickly as it started raining!!

It's a car, not an ornament, so just use it as much as possible.
I can understand wanting to keep them mint, but it does get a bit excessive. My missus is at a show today and she saw a Ford stand, and out of the 12 cars, less than half were Fords, as they're all coming off the road for winter!
Yet it's full of jap cars and all the other stuff. I swear the Ford scene is scared of water

Don't use the silver one in the winter, haven't done for about 6 years as i don't have to, i see what people are saying about getting the most fun out of it, but I'd rather not encourage it to rust and worry about it breaking down etc.. if i can avoid it. Had a few issues with it and the tax ran out at the end of AUG so i just sorned it and put it in the garage, might get the white one MOT'd sometime over winter so that could be interesting.

I use mine everyday but anyway we don't use salt on the roads... On the other hand I work on a port so the car is half the day parked next to the sea! I also do about 25 - 30000km per year with it!
