Default cracked block - bin it or sleeve it?

I live in western Canuckistan. Far from a plentiful supply of cossie blocks. sure I could troll the boneyard for a very rare Pinto block, but it would just be a pinto 205, not a selected block.

I have a spare block but it's cracked between cylinders. Chuck it or should I save it and if needed in the future, sleeve it?

I just have a hard time chucking a cossie block that cost a wad of $$$ to ship here.

What power are you after?

The 205 blocks are pretty good, they get a far worse rep than they deserve.

I have a stage III motor. Fresh build just started. I'd just like to keep a block around and it seems dumb to trash it outright.

Stage 3 motor on a 205 block is done all the time over here with no problems mate.

Im not a fan of repaired blocks generally, anything with a crack in it like that is going to be weakened even if you sleeve it, I would sooner trust an uncracked 205 block than a cracked 200 one.

i agree with you chip 205 blocks aint bad and a lot of people knock them, i got 205 block running stage 3 and its fine apart from 2 hairline cracks between water jackets.
but 90% of cossies have some sort of crack i been told
altho cracked between cylinders i wouldn't risk

The 2wd selected block only relates to how close to factory tolerance each of the bores where when brand new, and this was then marked down by the dissi as a 2 for each good bore, and a 1,3 or 4 for just over or under ideal tolerance, so they picked all the 2222 ones for cosworth, the minute its honed or rebored its just the same as any late 205 pinto block so if you can find one locally all good

There are enough old pintos around I could find another 2222 block I bet. And as you say, rebore it and poof, it's the same as any pinto block. Chances are the bore is so dead anyway as these are blocks from the 70's.

Shipping a motor or block here from the UK is a bit more than a tenner.
