Default Cambelt tensioner - OEM part quality?

Hey there,

I'm about to get the cambelt changed on my Saff Cossie. Thing is I can get the belt really cheap but from Ford the tensioner is an awful lot of money.

I don't really fancy buying aftermarket stuff as some of the parts I bought for my RST weren't always top quality. For example the original Ford cambelt tensioner on my RST with 80k miles on the clock sounded smoother and looked better quality than the new one I got with my cambelt kit.

So, how's the quality of the original YB cambelt tensioner? Are they prone to go wrong or will they pretty much last forever if they don't show any signs of wear (will check during change)?

Also, any experience with aftermarket items and tipps where to buy are more than welcome.

In the south, right between Stuttgart and Munich. Ulm itself is part of the county "Baden-Württemberg" but I live in a small town to the east which is already part of Bavaria (OKTOBERFEST und LEDERHOSEN!!!) :P

Ah OK, so you've mainly been to the north west.

Obviously since that was under british occupation. The area where I live was mostly covered by the yanks.
