Default Stupid Clutch Cable Question

A real stupid question but i'm putting the finishing touches to my 3dr Cosworth build and have come to fit the clutch cable, only trouble is that i dont know what route the cable takes through the engine bay? Have tried round the front and its a foot or so short, round the back is way too long etc, am sure the right route will make it fit perfect (unless burton's sent me wrong cable!)

Any one help?

I'm assuming the clutch cable is the same on a 2wd sapph as it is on a 3dr (just incase i have been sent the wrong one!)

Secondly i'm about to start my engine which hasnt run for a good 18 months - was running fine when i took it out my old cos and has sat with oil in and in my sry garage, but hanst cranked over in the whole 18months. Do cos engines usually experience any problems after a long storage, whats the best way to tackle its first start up??

Cheers!!

Clutch cables are the same. It routes under the sump at the front, that's where the thick rubber bit sits.

I'd disconnect the fuel pump and coil lead, take out the plugs and run it up on the starter to get the oil around everything.

Maybe you have a LHD clutch cable as these are shorter then a RHD

I must be thick here boys or somethings wrong, going from the bulkhead where the cable comes through if i go under the sump i'm still a fair bit too long on the cable?

Anyone got a picture of where the cable runs? Or can someone take one on their moble, its driving me mad this problem

Also i'm a little worried as its my first full cosworth build and i think i've got the gearbox right, but have noticed the clutch cable fork is loose at the moment, (i can move it a good inch or so back and forth in the gearbox without a cable in it) is this normal?

Thanks!!!

right mate the 2wd cable goes from the bulkhead, down by the side of the turbo then runs just behind the steering rack/cross member just by the front of the sump.

if you have a 4x4 cable that goes all the way out as far a the rad under tube then round to the gearbox.

hope this helps
