hi, as i put a put a yb engine in the bay where my pinto was i had to run a wire from the coil (light green) ( to test it use a 12v test light bulb you will see it pulse) to the back of the rev counter, this linked to the red wire that comes off the plug that goes into the dash gauges, there must be an earthing or short sending the rev counter to go nuts

You may find this is fairly std, mine does it and most have even without the connectors there, some even done it with a bench supply to run them, I think a correctly working one was an option!!

Mine's ok, still soldiering on, still doing the miles, just needing desperately to do bottom end as done 160,000+ miles now, and still going on RR!!
It has a thirst for oil now though 100 miles to a pint when used hard, not good, but ace mpg, if I take it easy, which isn't often!!
Making me rear roll bar tomorrow, 22m out of ENT16 sprung steel, adjustable one, slightly different shape so it clears the diff mount better, so poly mount can be used easier.
My poly reinforced diff mounts should be cured now so will pick them up, got a few guineau pigs to try them on first, but less than 1/2 price of others, so all good this end.
