Default Cossie cuts out?

Just hooked up my rebuilt engine and it wont rev above 2500,the rev needle flickers and the engine cuts out?

Takes a bit of starting too, could it be the Crank sensor?

Cheers

Could also be the water temp sensor too, I had problems similar to yours and it was the WTS
