Default Chassis number?

How come everytime I ask for a qoute from Fordparts uk they say my chassis number is not right,

my chassis number is,

Engine number is -

The stamp on the floorpan is the chasis number and the engine number is exactly that,

This is the response,

'The VIN should be '

Erm no it's not, the log book and numbers match even the windows are all etched with the engine number which is .

Can anyone explain this?

to be honest mate you have an issue the last 7 digets of your chassis number are your engine number so your saying one reads:FU52664 at the end and the other is: LV52664
id say that they are right and you car has history as ford stamped the windows with the last 7 of the chassis not the last 5, may have had a re shell in its life and they missed a letter out, then rang up dvla and got the log book changed!!

HERE IS MY CHASSIS: WF0FXXGBBFJA76105

cossie chassis numbers all follow a pattern i would deffo have your car checked out!!

Must be an office error somwhere as it's only got 2 previous keepers. Last one had it for 16 years and it's completely standard with genuine 40,000 miles on it.

I know what your saying, my old RST was WFOBXXCGABKK13011 and the engine number was KK13011 with the windows etched this....

Odd I'll have to re check it.

IIRC the two letters in the middle, in your case "LV" indicate the build date, month and year, i'll have a look and see what I can find, it might not shed much light on it but it's something else to go on, I had to do this with my car as this history was a bit foggy (imported and regitsred in 1998), docs said 1993,and some stuff 91 & 92...

http://www.wrc-cosworth.org/specs/identify.html

According to this, the car was built in 1990, as that's what the "L" stands for, but there is no use of "V" in the month codes used... Close inspection of the VIN's and comparison to another car will give you piece of mind, i do suspect that someone has just made a mistake if there isn't anything obviously out of place and you can trace the cars history back to the original owner as you have already stated.

No problem, i suspect maybe since they stamped the engine "V" which is total bollocks, that the real month of manufacture is "U" on the chasis plate which is June i think.
Does it have a number on the plate under the bonnet???

It has got all vin plates etc intact, I'll have to go around and check them all again and write them down when I get home.

I'm sure they are all perfect as I checked them when I HPI'd it on purchase.

We'll see

Right, hows this for a DVLA cock-up,

The stamp matches the VIN which matches the colour tag and engine number,

and this is what the V5 says on it,

now what do I do?

If I inform them I know it will show up on the HPI as an engine number change. Even though it's there cock-up......
