but you would still need to have it matched to the fitment you were fitting it to
think of it as a wheel tyre combo, you can't put a wheel onto your car that is one size and then try and fit a tyre of a different size to it, then you have to make sure it fits into the wheelarch
so the angles of the teeth and their pitch and the curvature etc will all need to work together, if they bon't mesh perfectly then you will have lots of wear very very quickly
you can have a 3.62:1 7 inch diff and a 7.5 inch diff, and even though the ratio's are the same, the teeth will differ and you won't be able to put the 7 inch pinion into the 7.5 inch diff
