Default Module location for dash board warning indicator

Someone has kindly given me a replacement module/brain box for the warning indicator on the dash, you know the one with the little birds eye view of the car and tells you if the doors are open etc etc

does anyone know its exact location under the dash before I start stripping the dash down? my car is a 1990 4x4

Any help is much appreciated

Left hand kick panel off and its just above there on a 2wd and most other sierra's can only assume its the same on a 4x4. Which lights are constantly showing as being out on your one?

it should be clipped to the little cubby hole just above the accelerator paddle m8. iirc it's 2 or 3 screw's that hold the plastic on below the steering wheel. but you might be able to change it without taking the plastic off.

The front door indicators used to be on constantly but now nothing works

You can change it without removing plastic.

If it's never been out before it's a right pain in the arse. it's in a screwed down bracket with double sided sticky pad on it. Under the dash above the accelarator pedal.

All totally wrong!

Its behind the cubby hole above the glovebox on a 4x4 sapphire, where the ECU would sit on a 2wd. Squeeze the middle of the cubby together and pull it out. You'll see the unit at the rear left.

Are your cars 4x4? The thing under the dash in the driver footwell is something to do with the central locking/alarm/immobilser.

The 1990 sapph 4x4 i worked on had it behind the dash cubby
My 1991 sapph 4x4 has it behind the dash cubby
My friends 1992 sapph 4x4 has it behind the dash cubby

Behind the cubby as i said.

The ECU in the drivers footwell says 'ford security' or something on it and is to do with the security lol. It does not have anything whatsoever to do with the dash warning display.

Yep the lamp failure module is above the accel. pedal. The central locking module is behind the footwell lamp drivers side.

The one you are talking about under dash, near the pedals, simply does the bulb blown warnings - ie headlight, brake light out.

The one i've shown behing the cubby, does the rest of the features and supplies power to the warning display.

So to sum up

Name: P3100006.jpg
Views: 1240
Size: 68.0 KB

Supplies power, does door open, low temp etc etc

Name: P3100010.jpg
Views: 4382
Size: 92.0 KB

This one is simply the bulb out ecu, the display works without it plugged in, but doesn't give you any bulb tests. I thought it was a security one, but the plastic security relay is just attached to the metal bulb warning one.

White sticker - behind cubby

Pink sticker above accel pedal

If your display isn't working at all, its the white sticker one you need. Failure of the pink one just means the wee bulb symbols don't show on the display, but the door open and frost symbols still show.

Nice 1 Paul I think its the white sticker jobbie that I have, sound as a pound, I'll fit it at the next available opportunity

i have been trying to fine a problem with my G, W, M, for absolute yonks. some times it works and somtimes it don't tryed three diffrent control boxes above the pedal and tried tracing the wire under the dash using a wiring diagram, still no joy.

and after reading this post i had a look behind the cubby hole and as if by magic i find another control box that is not plugged in correctly
