The most important bit is the centre bit and the bit that revolves around it, as this si where the pressure is made, or lost, the inside of the pump body should be smooth, the end plate often gets a wear ridge in it from the rotor turning on it, .

take it your oil pump failed and thats what caused all the damage.
will a normal 2.0 pinto engine fit mine? its a 2wd shapphire.
how much difference is there between a standard oil pump and a high flow.
only asking as i rang woodford today and its alot of money for one and he said it was a high flow.

yip pinto one will go in if you put the top off your cosworth one onto the top of the pinto one for the spray jets.....and you should get a pinto one for less than £30.....

If thats the case when/what power level/stage of tune is an high pressure pump is required?
Also what do the chances be of your standard orginal ford cosworth oil pump being in good nick just say even after 100,000 miles i.e can they usually be reconditioned/used as ive been reading up horror stories of the cosworth/aftermarket pumps etc?
Thanks
