Default Genuine Ford flaps/mats for Sapphire Cosworths

Just thought i'd post this up as it may interest a few of you

I decided i wanted some flaps for the sapph, so looked into getting genuine ford ones. They don't list any specifically for the Cosworth so i took a chance and ordered some up.

Mats (FINIS 5027658)

Flaps (FINIS 5016699 front, 5016700 rear)

The rears fitted perfectly.

The fronts were a different story though

They are moulded to the shape of a Sierra wing, but the Cosworth sideskirts get in the way of the moulded section. Mocked one of the front flaps up and had a good look at what was getting in the way. I then realised it was going to be easy to make them fit

So it was out with the knives

I need to trim roughly this much off-

Trimmage

Didn't cut myself either, which was surprising

Fitted. They needed a few slivers whacked off to make them sit perfectly, but it was no big hassle.

Have to get some better pics, didn't want to take the cover off as it was starting to rain

All of the above are availible from Ford, so there is no need to be paying insane ebay prices. I ordered the lot from ford parts and it worked out at Ł70 delived to Northern Ireland.

I did that the same on mine mate, but unfortunately the mud flaps I found were second hand as I didn't think they were still available. I'm ordering new on Monday, thanks for the codes

I think the rubber mats are still avalible. I believe my mate asked about them for his 3 door. I'll check and get back to you.

They were all roughly Ł20 each (not including VAT) The flaps come seperately as a front and rear set, mats come as a complete car set.

I'm looking to see if you can still get the premium carpet sets, but i think they are roughly Ł40 a set.

If you take the FINIS codes in they have no excuse lol. They don't even have to look anything up, they just type them into their computer and hey pretso

I got mine from http://www.fordpartsuk.com

I'm looking into getting some pro pics done shortly, hopefully have some decent pics then!

Hello, i just asked trevor at ford parts about the rubber mats and also for the carpet ones.

This is his reply :-

The MK1 Sierra Front Rubber Floor mats are the same as the MK2
and not listed different for the Cossy and are available (5015540)
Rear Rubber Mats are obsolete though.

Ford did not offer carpet mats for the MK1
But if the front rubber mats are the same we can assume that the MK2 Carpet mats would fit
Again no specific mats for the Cossy listed
Grey Standard Carpet Mats Sierra (87-93) (5027658)

The rubber ones from ford are about Ł14 plus vat. The carpet ones are Ł18 plus vat

Hope this helps

well I called into my local Ford dealer earlier, gave him the finis number and expected the usual malarky, he looked at me and said no problem we have a set in stock, I nearly fell over. Off he went to get them and and I fully expected the wrong ones to appear, but no they were exactly the ones in my pic.

So then I said you woudnt happen to have a rear set would you, so again he takes a look and said yep we have a pair of them as well in stock.

So I now have a brand new set of Ford rubber mats, the ones as originally fitted to the 3dr cosworthI am over the moon.

Thanks again for the finis numbers, if it had not been for this thread I would not have even bothered trying my local dealers. I bet they had been sat there gathering dust for the last 20 years.

numbers were 5015540 for the fronts as provided above and 5016573 for the rears. All in cost was Ł27.69 as he gave me 15% discount as well

Never asked sorry, I dont remember 3drs ever being fitted with front mud flaps due to the bodykit, and the ones above should fit ok on the rear

David and i have looked at his 3 door and we both think there is no way the front flaps will fit due to the bodykit - there's simply nothing from them to secure to!

Rears may fit. if you want i'll take mine off at the weekend and try them on his bumper.

@AKA - Glad you got sorted mate Also happy this thread has been of some use!

Oh on another note - sapphire door mouldings. I got all 4 from my Ford dealer last month, no bother at all Ordered them on a monday, they arrived 2 days later! You can't get either of the wing strips though, both are listed as obsolete

FINIS are

1651174 Ł41
1651173 Ł41
1651172 Ł51
1651171 Ł51

So no need to pay ebay rip off prices for these parts.

old thread, but ...

proper front mudflaps listed for the Sapphire Cosworth are:

5022356

These are listed as the Premium versions, and require not cutting etc
They are stiffer and stronger

The matching rears are:

5022357

However, both long long no longer available, even through Fordparts.

BUT, these flaps were replaced by 1052582.....they are the same...the cut out on the rear only need trimming to fit..Ford kept this quiet but I have the fitting instructions etc if anyone needs.
1052581 are different - they have a curved edge and 3 embossed lines, but still fit ok

I'll try to finds some pics

These are the genuine mats and are the same as a lesser Sierra as we have them in ours which is completly orginal and came with them when new (Hence why he dosen't have a Cosworth listing), I have also seen them in Cosworth's that are original and so there was although sadly mine hasen't.

1052582 is per pair. so for front and rear you will need this x 2.

if anyone need the fitting guidelines just ask - I'll post pics up later of the Premium and Universal (1052582) ones and you'll find they are the same

here is 5022356, next to 1052852 - same!
also, 1031188 is the same!

all you have to do is trim the pre-cuts and adjust the clamps and fit at the angle/height that Ford recommend to use them on the rear too

yes, they are EXACTLY the same shape - only the brackets are slightly different
they look alot more classy than the moulded ones and are stiffer due to the metal bracing

the only ones available now are 1052581.

they are similar is style, but have 3 embossed lines with the small Ford logo, and a curved edge instead of a flat edge and 2 embossed lines.

they still will fit ok with the correct instructions and patience

it'll ask for the finis if known, and you can enter any of the finis codes above in the freetext field.
bear in mind their response does not represent all Ford dealers - many dealers do not subscribe to the Obsolete Stock system, so as you suggest, a dealer search may turn up some surprises

All the mud flaps are on back order too and I was told from my dealer that they don't want to make 50 sets to only sell a couple. I joked with him and said they would sell quick though lol.

I have bought a set of those RS logo'd mudflaps and it stated int he ebay ad they were genuine Ford - but i cant find any Ford stamps on them and they only came with a packet of screws.

Havent fitted them yet as need to drill the front wing which i dont really want to do

Anyone got these fitted to their saffs?
