what is the maximum tyre size for original 3dr wheels?

i want to fit toyo r888's and would like to upgrade so i can have the maximum tyre width - more grip!!!

I have R888 in 225 width on my 7" wheels but mine are 16". In 15" the biggest is:

215/50ZR15

i was thinking of 225 50 15 but will they rub?

it is an original car with original wheels.

they wont rub but will probably look like tractor tyres on a 3dr rim

didn't the rouse saffs have 225 50 15s on the standard saff 15s?....
