Question MOT repairs

Just had a quick mot check and and has a few little things i need to sort before it will pass ie reg plate a brake hose etc but one of the refusal reasons is

Offside Front Macpherson strut upper support bearing is rough in operation

What is this is it the the strut top mount ?? i have koni adjustables on the car if it is that can i just buy a standard sierra cosworth top mount and fit that to the adjustables ? or do i need to get a special one from koni

Cheers in advance

When you remove the strut you will find a roller bearing between the strut, and the rubber/top mounting plate which is on the inside of the engine bay (bearing is on the underside of the turret,). That is what they mean needs changing, Ford do them still

sure strutt top mount is the rubber bit at top where strutt goes through turret, think it is the bearing your needing, flat round looking think below top mount etc, maybe broken down or siezing up,not sure if its a sealed unit so may just need replaced, think you'll need strutt out to do it

Yes strut off job,(unless you have coilovers!!), but anyway strut off, may not need to clamp spring if they are short enough ?, best do just to be sure if you don't know, undo top plate take off, bearing between the spring plate on the top of spring itself and the top plate, be sure to get the damper rod in the CENTRE of the plate it passes through before finally tightening the top plate prior to fitting back on car, by top plate I mean on the strut NOT the one you see under the bonnet when installed.
As said all sierra ones the same.
