do the saff cossie 4x4s suffer from piston slap. Ive notice mine to be a bit rattly on these cold mornings. When i start the car up it lasts for about 30 secs then once it gets warm its ok.

They are standard mate its wierd when i start the car up before i go to work it sounds ok yeh the tappets r noisey then they go off. I come out of work and ive noticed it twice now that when i start it up this noise is there. As soon as i pull out of my works yard the noise goes and the car comes on boost and pulls like a train.

If it's only when it's cold stop worrying about nothing, mine does it hot and has done for the last 20,000 + miles, some have more clearance than others, nothing will suddenly go because of this, it will just start to drink oil, blow oil seals etc due to excess crank pressure on boost.
I am rebuilding my bottom end next year, done all the top end, and mine does regular 4/6hour + sessiosn on the rollers, went on monday, going back on today!!
It has 160,000+ miles, as far as can be certain, maybe more but certainly not less, and still pulls 375bhp.
