Default rocker cover gasket

So when for a dust last night and when i got back in i noticed some oil on the windscreen. when i dopped the hood there was a layer of oil over the engine. it looks like a bit mor ethen normal and i think it might be the rocker cover gasket. I did notice also that where the gasket is sort of visable there is what seems like petroleum jelly or white grease, any idea what/why its there?

The engine is running at about 300hp and i was wondering if there was any recommendation about a replacement gasket?

The most popular replacement gasket is the Cometic one. I use this myself and have had the rocker cover off many times and reused it successfully. You will need to add some gasket sealent around the front cam caps and half moon seals as it tends to leak there even with a good gasket. The jelly you have noticed is probably doing that job. Cheers

Hello matey

So i sourced this one on ebay http://urlant.com/yvwjmv does this look like its the right sorta price? would it be worth getting the full gasket kit rather then just the rocker cover one? I did not see the half moon seals in the full kits.

Also any recommendation for a good sealant to use?

I used a Hylomar sealent, but im pretty sure that mine actually sets, so you might want to try the first one. You dont have to buy them from there, they are the first results i got on google lol, but they would be upto the job.

As for the gasket sets, i would go for the £33 ones in the first link.
That is all you need to renew the rocker cover gasket.

All the other gaskets would create you alot of un-necessary work, especially if your existing ones are ok.
