car not running right help
first of all its a 89 2wd cossie. it went in to abc motorsports to put the engine back together, they said they couldnt get it started and my engine loom was at fault so they changed it.
the one they changed it to was bodged at the coil wires and it had a nut and bolt on in, which when i was driving fell down to the coil and welded itself to it and frying my loom. 600 pound down the toilet coz of the robbing bodgit cunts
any way i got a new loom off of steve escos off here (cheers mate) but it was from a 3dr so had to change the plug by the ecu plug.
put it all in the car and the car fired up first time and then when i drove it out of my garden as soon as it put the throotle down and foot off the cluth it dies
i can drive it by giving hardly any throttle slowly but as soon as i do it just cuts out completely
now the loom was the same apart from the coil wires (so i moved the coil up near the battery) and i dunno what its called (its underneeth the header tank on a bracket). well the one thats under the header tank had a sort of earth strap so i put it to earth, but the long ecu plug has got one aswell, does this need to be earthed? if so where to, ive bolted this down to the ecu bracket but dont know weather its earthed or not(as you take the cover off, what the ecu is bolted to)
so has anyone got any ideas of what i could do or what it could be?
i dont know what all the sensors are called or where there located as im newish to cossie ownership lol
cheers

I believe there is a braided earth strap on the 3 door engine loom that goes to the securing bolt on the MAP sensor ?? I don't think this lead is on the Sapphire loom that I now have fitted.
I shall look on my spare 3 door loom tomorrow and see what conections are in that area.
Cheers

Sorry to hear you are still having problems. The 3dr was running L6, I have sent you PM. Have you changed the coil?
I have another loom here as well, I will fit it tomorrow just to check it out and if you are still having problems PM me your address and i will send you my L6 ecu and other loom just to make sure it is ok. Regards Steve

Could be a lot of things, including a weak spark - given that the coil was exposed to something it shouldn't have been, it'd be a nice idea to change the coil, to a Group A item if possible.

i took it up the road and if i use the throttle really lightly i can build up speed but and push on the pedal it dies like its out of petrol or its not getting enough but before it dies if a come of throttle and dip clutch its ok

is the tps sensors screws tight is fitted correctly? could it be knacker? has the inlet/ plenum gasket gone? map sensor? inside the dizzy cap in perfect condition?
the loom should be earthed to the engine, not the car incase interference....

are you sure its not a weak fuel pump?check the rotar arm and in the cap is cleanmake sure you have put all wiring back on perfect it will be a stupid thing

this fault could be a number of things ... why was the loom changed in the begining? if the dizzy cap has been off then the locator lug on the rotor arm could have been sheared off .. this can give this affect as the arm will give a random spark due to its ability to move... the other could be map sensor fault of some sort ( but i would have thought it would be over fueling ) does it give out black smoke .....? an earth fault would no cause this nor the earth lead off the map sensor to ecu... what volt is the fuel pump seeing at the back ... have you done a fuel return check... ps im not abc well not since june ....

right story is i bought a white saff with a welded up diff / rain / lampost / ouch lol so i bought a red saph cossie shell but it was running a stardard 2 litre. (was lukes at abc at one point i was told was a 500 brake track car and sold as a shell ?g515nux)
so took everything out of the white crashed one and put the engine box etc in the red one.
then realised whoever had put the full interior loom in the red one with the 2 litre put a standard one so took it out and put a cossie one in.
then my mum passed away and lost intrest
then few months later started it again and half the loom didnt work so put everything in the boot and took to abc.
asked them to check the loom and make it work, to put the hoses and little things in the bay back in (most big things were in already) and get it running
2 weeks later had a phone call saying they couldnt get it sparking so changed the engine loom to one they knew worked
got the car back and when i got it back to where i was working on it, they hadnt checked any of the loom inside and literly got it running.
so i got a new loom for the interier and fitted it all up everything as good as
got it mot tax looked the nuts now(gotta put some pics up lol)
went down the road after driving for a few days and the engine loom caught fire

have a look on the loom that cort fire at the wires that go to the TPS and see if they had been swoped round its the out side wires . if you have a red TPS thats a 2wd one if its black its 4x4 and has to have the wires swoped round . all so se wot the volts are on the pump plug gap if you have some uvers put them in

i wouldnt really have a clue to be honest mate, better off putting up anew thread so more people can see it.
but at a guess the overfuelling would make the plugs wet so not a good spark, so get the fueling sorted out, change plugs, possibly dizzy cap and leads aswell and go from there
apart from that i wouldnt no what else to suggest
